Works at:Cornell Information Technologies, ATA (Cornell University)
Job title:Senior Software Architect/Engineer
Comments: I work for the Advanced Technology and Architectures (http://ata.cit.cornell.edu) group in the division of Cornell Information Technologies at Cornell University, working on various software development projects. In this role, I focus quite a bit on collaborative software development efforts with other institutions in higher-education.

Recently, I have been most involved with open-source/community-source efforts such as the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation funded Kuali Project (http://www.kuali.org), specifically as the development manager for the Kuali Rice product (http://rice.kuali.org).

In addition, I serve on the board of directors for JA-SIG (http://www.ja-sig.org), which specializes in aiding open-source/community-source projects in higher-ed, particularly on the administrative side.

I graduated from Cornell University in 2005 with a Masters of Engineering in Computer Science. My wife Amy M. Godert, Ph.D., also graduated from Canisius College (Computer Science/Chemistry - 2001) and is now an assistant professor of Chemistry at Wells College, in Aurora, NY.

Canisius College has a great undergraduate Computer Science program, which provided me the necessary fundamentals for personal career growth and opportunities.

Job title:System Administrator
Comments:I am currently working as a high performance computing system administrator in NASA's Advanced Supercomputing Division (NAS). NAS provides HPC resources and support for a number of NASA missions, including debris transport analysis for current shuttle missions, modeling and simulation work in support of the Orion spacecraft and Ares launch vehicle, weather and climate modeling, and planetary sciences, among others. NAS manages over 100 teraflops of compute resources, more than a petabyte of disk storage, and more tape than I can count. One of our machines is a 2048 core SGI Altix with 4TB of memory, which is currently the largest Linux single system image machine on the planet. My first experience with high performance computing was parallelizing my ray tracer for Dr. McConnell's graphics class. That was on the 10 SGI O2 workstations that we had at the time. I've come a long way since then!
